Gate Controller Guide
Note: Use caution not to damage or scratch the finish after removing the top cover.
To remove the Top Cover, insert the Magnetic Gate key into the horizontally oriented key slot. Turn the key counterclockwise to disengage the locking mechanism. If the key resists turning, sometimes using the bottom of your fist, and tapping on the top cover just above the key will help to get the lock to disengage. Once the lock disengages, pull the front of the Top Cover upward and then slide rearward to disengage the static rear L-locks.
To replace the Top Cover, engage the rear static L-locks into the slots, then making sure the keylock is in the unlocked (vertical) position, lower the cover onto the gate. JFK

Once the top cover has been removed, the inside of the enclosure may be accessed by removing the Front Slide Panel. To accomplish this, grab the Front Panels top edge and pull upwards. The Panel rides in slotted tracks on either side and may be completely removed by sliding the Panel upwards until it slides free of the tracks. Below are pictures of the Front Panel sliding open halfway and one of the panels removed completely.

To replace the Front Panel, align both edges with the tracks on the enclosure and then slide the Panel into the tracks and push downwards until the panel is in the full down position. The panel is captured by the Top Cover when it is in place, and once the keylock has been engaged it is inaccessible and prevented from being removed.
Start by accessing the inside portion of the gate enclosure by following the Top Cover and Front Panel removal procedures covered on pages 3 and 4. Once access to the inside of the enclosure is achieved, you will find the power switch on the lower right-hand side. See the pictures below.

To turn the gate ON, move the power switch to the Upward Position
To turn the gate OFF, move the power switch to the downward position.
While working with FlashParking support you may be asked to verify the Program Mode of the barrier (gate) controller. The Program Mode is an internal set of instruction or Program that tells the controller how we wish the gate to operate. We normally will run in Program Mode 5. To verify this, we look at the top left side of the gate controller.
This “5 “in the Top Left Corner of the photo at the right indicates Program Mode 5.
If you see this “Wrench” symbol it indicates that the gate is in the service mode. More information on the Service Mode.
Gate Controller Messages come in three formats:
Event messages - "INFO" Event messages inform us about events such as "switching to battery operation". The gate continues to run normally. Event messages do not influence the outputs of the control unit.
Warning messages - "WARNING" Faults that could be reset by the control unit are displayed as warnings. Operation of the gate is not or only briefly impaired. If the function "Warning" has been chosen for output, this output is deactivated at pending warnings (fail-safe).
Error messages - "ERROR" Faults that cannot be reset by the control unit are displayed as errors. The gate will be inoperable.
To view the messages, first, you must remove the gate's Top Cover as listed on page 3. Once the cover is removed you will have access to the barriers control unit. See the picture below. Also, refer to page 10 for precise button locations.
To access the messages, begin by pressing the left most button on the controller, labeled with the Square.
Scroll through the message list by using the Up and Down Arrows
The messages will contain a Date/Time Stamp and the actual message.
The messages could display Text, Numbers, or both. By supplying these messages to the FlashParking Support Technician, it often assists them with troubleshooting current or past barrier problems.
The Control unit reset is performed in one of two ways:
In the "Service" mode, all opening and closing signals are ignored. The functions of safety devices like the safety loop or safety light barrier remain active for security reasons. This means that as soon as the safety loop is occupied, the barrier cannot be closed. Reference the picture below showing the location of the Service Switch. The switch position shown in the picture is in the Normal Run Mode and the LED will illuminate Green. To select the Service Mode, slide the switch lever towards the rear of the controller. When the Service Mode is selected The LED illuminates Red. The display backlighting flashes and will display an “X” symbol in place of the Program Mode number.
To Raise or Lower the gate arm manually we use the gates controllers “Service Mode” To access the Service Mode we need to manually slide the selector switch to the Service Mode position. See the picture for the Service Mode Selector Switch location. (reference Service Mode above)
The Normal Run Mode is indicated by switch being in the forward position as shown in the picture to the right. The LED will show Green.
Service Mode is selected by sliding the switch to the rearward position. Once selected, the small LED next to the switch will illuminate Red indicating that the Service Mode is in effect.
Returning the selector switch to the forward position will cancel the Service Mode. The LED will illuminate Green, and the gate will resume normal operation.
Once the gate is in the Service Mode:
Note: Use Caution as the Barrier (Gate) Arm will move as soon as the appropriate control button is pressed and move to the full opposite position. Make sure there is nothing restricting the arm from moving full range in either direction prior to manually moving the boom.
Note: Be sure to place the Barrier (Gate) back into the Normal Run Mode when work is completed. If the barrier (gate) is left in the Service Mode, the gate will not function as expected.
In case of power failure, the gate arm may be in the lower (arm down) or upper (arm open) dead point, I.E; the gate arm can no longer be easily moved manually. In this case, proceed as follows:
Note: This process will not work with the gate's power in the ON position.
1. Upper tool bore for opening the barrier. 2. Lower tool bore for closing the barrier.
Once the gate has been configured by the installing technician, those setting will be saved as the Factory Settings. In some cases, the controller may need to be reset to those Factory Settings. To reset the gate controller to the User Factory Setting follow this procedure. Refer to the controller picture on page 10 for precise operating button locations.
By looking at the barrier (gate) controller display we can determine the status of the connected loops. In most instances there are two (2) loops connected to the gate controller, the Safety (A) Loop and the Arming (B) Loop. In some installations there may be two (2) additional loops, which will be designated as “C” and “D”. This picture shows the A and B Loops connected properly. The A and B icons are displayed and Not Flashing. If the icon is Flashing that indicates that the loop is occupied and most likely there is a vehicle sitting on top of it. One loop may be active, or in some instances both may be active simultaneously.

There may be instances where one or more loops in a lane need to be Recalibrated. The easiest and first thing to try is powering off the barrier (gate). First the loops need to be clear so make sure there are no vehicles or metal on the loop. Refer to the procedure on pages 3 and 4 to gain access to the gate enclosure and page 5 for instructions on how to turn off the power. Once you turn the gate Off, wait at least 10 seconds and then turn the power back On. While powering up, the gate will attempt to Recalibrate all loops connected to the controller. Once the gate is back in normal operation, test the loops to insure they are functioning properly.If that doesn’t correct the loop issue, we can try Recalibrating the troublesome loop by using this procedure:
Understanding the controller’s input and output indications may help in troubleshooting various problems. The field wiring input signals to the barrier (gate), the Relay Outputs, and the Digital Outputs each have a Green LED indicator that illuminates when that signal is Active. If the LED indicator is Off, that indicates the signal is Inactive See the picture below:
In this picture you can see the various indicator next to each of the labeled inputs and outputs. Each LED indicator is also labeled with a number that corresponds to the input or output that it is associated with. The picture above is showing that DO3 and Relay Output 5 are Active (green LED). Everything else is Inactive.

The barrier (Gate) arm may get pushed or bumped and cause it to be out of position, and no longer level with the drive lane. Providing the gate arm is not damaged it is relatively easy to realign. You will need a #10 Hexagon (Allen) Wrench.
Warning: Only slightly loosen the clamping bolts and only a little at a time. Loosening them to much could cause the gate arm to fall and could cause injury. Loosen them slowly until the gate arm can be rotated on the shaft, but not so loose that it falls free.
